Oh and for the record. Sorted out SW this morning, with NSC assistance. Last years bill ringfenced at £15 a month. This years bill set up on DD. Meter requested, as is more of a refund due to the stress caused :lol:, although not holding my breath. No credit black mark.

That's a relief they only want:- £815.68 payment immediately by return!! :ohmy: Of that the important bit is £368 outstanding debt from '12-'13. Which is the bit I want the best deal for me on. Assuming I can just reinstate the DD they cancelled for '13-'14.

The water bill has been pretty static over the years. TBH I think a meter may well have saved us money. I just got the advance warning letter this morning. I'm sure the bill will arrive early next week, and I just know they will either want all the outstanding by return, or 'helpful' repayments...

I don't make a habit of it. The 'house account' runs a fairly hand to mouth, monthly cash in covering DD's coming out, and not used for anything else. Southern Water may a brought the odd bag of dog food over the last fiscal year!

Yeah the money is about, kind of, you know how it is! Yes I should have acted when I did notice what they'd done. As said, I didn't pick up on it for a fair few months, the whole point of having a DD is to take away monthly money management.

Yeah that's the least I expect, but naturally I'd prefer not to have to pay twice my original DD. The letter clearly admits their guilt, I'm after techniques to use this to my advantage when sorting out the repayment.

Ages ago, Southern Water put meters in further down my road, stopping about 5 doors away, leaving the last 10(ish) houses. At the time I just assumed they'd be back soon enough, they never returned. A fair few months later I noticed they had without warning cancelled my direct debt, I guess...
