[Albion] Reports on Brighton Womens defeat to Bristol City in the Womens Super League

It seems you need the bleeding obvious pointing out to you, so I'll do it: In the men's game thread, people are debating whether or not it matters that TWENTY EIGHT THOUSAND are turning up to a game where the gate is announced at THIRTY THOUSAND. In the women's game thread, people are debating...

[Albion] Reports on Brighton Womens defeat to Bristol City in the Womens Super League

Indeed, but that's open to improvement. When the riches are there, you'll see athleticism improve as it has done in tennis. Men's football was nowhere near as athletic as it is now as recently as the 70s or 80s. So I can understand why you say it's not very good, but I'm not sure it's true...

[Albion] Reports on Brighton Womens defeat to Bristol City in the Womens Super League

I don't actually think that's the reason. The Albion were dogshit in the 90s yet still 2,500 travelled 170 miles round trip to Gillingham to watch them play. Besides, if you see the goal that beat us last week, it was genuinely a quality goal.

[Albion] Reports on Brighton Womens defeat to Bristol City in the Womens Super League

One big reason the Albion get large gates is that there is a "big event" feel to turning up at the Amex. That said, even if we were still at Withdean in League One the gates would still be 20 times bigger than Albion in the WPL. I think there are a couple of things to consider: Firstly, if...

Ah ok, you learn something new every day. I hope something in Brighton can be provided some day so that the women's side gets a chance to flourish.

Why not the Amex then? Why not build a new facility? Or upgrade an existing one? If the demand was there, that is exactly what would happen.

He wasn't being any more negative than the facts suggest. Nobody watched the game, nobody responded on this thread, nobody actually really cared - which is all he said. It didn't warrant your uppity, self righteous nonsense. There is a difference between respecting the women's league/players...

[Albion] Reports on Brighton Womens defeat to Bristol City in the Womens Super League

Certainly better than "laughable bullshit" Plooks because this time you actually bothered to explain your point of view. The quality of the game is comparatively low because there are fewer women playing the game than men. Football isn't at the level of tennis in terms of professional...

That was the 9th reply on this thread in 5 hours. Which bit of his articulate and factually correct post do you find so offensive? I bet YOU didn't go to the game.

[Albion] Reports on Brighton Womens defeat to Bristol City in the Womens Super League

Well that's not true is it. The crowd for BHA's first ever game at the top level was just 342. Debate the merits of his post rather than just glibly rubbishing what he says. There are reasons why it isn't popular at the moment; for one, they should be playing their games in the city. But...
