I don't need to, I know the answer I'd get. I also know that it is a nasty violent rivalry. But it has to be said, "older West Ham fans who are not office workers" are only a subsection of their support. For example, if you ask older Albion fans (from before the 60s) who our biggest rivals...

    Football rivalries

Probably. Next time a Charlton, Bournemouth or Gillingham fan appears on here, we should ask them.

Yep. Quite amusing to see Leicester as CHAMPIONS and little old Pompey bumbling along in the diddiest of diddy leagues.

Indeed, although for Leicester the default rivalry is Forest. I think Leicester v Forest was the main East Midlands rivalry (especially in the 60s) until Clough turned up at Derby... Coventry are natural rival bedfellows seeing as they are fairly close and neither have a required rivalry...

Obviously for Spurs it is mostly about Arsenal, but it's hardly unrequited with Chelsea, especially these days (and West Ham for that matter). Chelsea have loads of proper rivalries where they are disliked (Spurs, West Ham, Man Utd, Leeds), it's just that they are not #1 arch rival for any of...

Yes, saying "barely give a toss" was a bit of a stretch. That said, in my experience most of them would rather beat Spurs or Chelsea. Actually, Spurs Chelsea and West Ham have a "hate triangle" going on don't they? Funny how Arsenal seem to be left out of that. I can only assume it's because...

Same goes for Plymouth/Burnley and Portsmouth/Leicester I think. Oh and Forest/Sheff Utd, (with roots in the miners strike)

Definitely NOT this. I was on a PNE board a month ago where some of their fans were wondering whether it follows that Blackpool are even their #1 rival. Blackburn is their closest rival club, for example and a lot of them can't stand Rovers more than Blackpool. Blackburn v Burnley is an...

    Football rivalries

True. The thing is, Millwall's support have a large number of nutters among them. How many people are going to bother going to the first game at London stadium between these two? Loads just won't go because of the grief, hassle and safety issues. I'm not sure that a half empty ground for...

Actually, they certainly are proper supporters I'm afraid. It's not that they like Millwall, but historically have bigger fish to fry. Millwall are a yoyo 2nd/3rd division club, West Ham 1st/2nd, so they don't meet all that often. And yes I get all that, but it's only because Millwall's sole...

I'm not sure. The Bristol derby is between two underachieving teams but the local press massively crank up the tension before the game. I'd say the Sheffield derby by contrast is equally big (certainly between two better supported clubs) yet the disorder is less of an issue relatively speaking.

Millwall v West Ham - meh. Not a proper rivalry, people only notice it because of crowd trouble. Here are my reasons: West Ham are 4 or 5 times bigger so it's lopsided, their games are never played to full houses because of crowd trouble, and most West Ham fans in an average office barely give...

    Football rivalries

In your opinion, what is the feistiest rivalry in English/Welsh football? (Let's put our rivalry with the Nigels aside for this one) I'm ignoring Scotland because we don't have the sectarian shite down here as a general rule. I'd also be interested to know whether people think city...
