Maybe the club were told he was going to hence the 95% statement, and then Vicente (and agent) have done the dirty on us. That would explain a lot and (in many respects) vindicate Sitch after all even Gus thought he was signing

I agree the logic but why would they do that?If Gus and the club were genuine in saying he could go if he didn't want to stay then why not simply continue negotiations after June 30 and if Vicente decides he wants to move on then he does. Exercising the option suggests it wasn't a mutual thing...

Maybe the club got downind of a rival offer emerging and simply got pissed off. The language used is very odd indeed ... shirley it would start "we're thrilled that ..........." defo a story of some sort here and not to do with being in Spain either. Gus categorically said he wouldn't hold him...
