Do you have mains to kitchen only, or too other cold draw off points/bathroom ? If you had crossover/cross contamination then the HW and any downservice cold water would smell as inhibitor would be in it and 1.4bar top up is (likely..) higher than any gravity supplies. And if it was the mains...
