You work for Molson Coors. I have to take my hat off to your marketing department with regards to Doom Bar, the rise of the popularity from a tiny brewery in Rock to one of the best sellers in the country is remarkable, mind you it is good stuff, shame that some of it is brewed in Burton though...
Yes.
Just looked it up had an interesting life.
And to tie in with another thread, do you remember the big wrestler in Carry On Loving, it was The Dazzler Joe Cornelius.
HSD still widely available down here, it's a shame that St Austell ales are not sold around the country like Sharps is these days, but they are still a family run business and not yet sold out to a huge brewery, but they have a fine range of drinks.
It was a long, long time ago only just old enough to drink. The Imperial in Southborough (my god what a dump Southborough is these days) only Shepherd Neame pub in town but we drank in there for the Hurlimann. Pub is still there when so many in Southborough have closed down.
Bang on. Joe Cornelius was his name, big lad with long grey hair.
Definitely Pompey Royal so I assume it must have been Whitbread, but I remember the sign and I do not think it had a brewery on it.
Our local is full of retro signs and ads for old school drinks and fags (Craven A wont make your throat hurt) so I thought that the lit up pumps on the bar for DD and Red Barrel was another retro themed piece, but no, and it's the original , tried it but not really my taste.
Can you still buy...
Double Diamond and Watneys Red Barrel both available at my local pub, don't know how but it is.
On route to the Goldstone from T Wells we used to stop off at The Five Bells in Chailey to fill up on Whitbread Pompey Royal, I remember at the time thinking it was alright, is it stil around...
