It was new ground, anarchic with no structure whatsoever. I look back on a Python though and 50% of their stuff is crap. Still love them though for when they got it right. Same with Milligan….

I loved alternative comedy when it came in with people like Alexis Sayle ….. Does he ever perform nowadays ? I’ve only ever seen him doing interviews in the latter years. One with Stewart Lee was good, Probably writes a lot… Does he still keep tropical fish in his underpants ?

I think the issue is that Lenny Henry is about as funny as herpes, or even Mrs Brown's Boys. Even back in the day, being black and shouting wasn't great comedy. I think herpes used to be funny…. Like AIDS. I joked about it back in the day. I’ve never seen him play it straight though.

It’s not just that GT, it just wasn’t funny. I can still laugh at comedy that isn’t PC but most of it made me cringe…. He should have come second on Mew Faces and we would have been spared….. He does do a lot for charities though I guess.

Just watching a few minutes of it….. Did we laugh at it ? Even Rick Mayall couldn’t save him.
