I do tend to agree. I keep being told what a great game rugby league is but just can’t get into it. I love most sports, with football/cricket/rugby union being my big 3, but never really got into league.
I went once to a World Cup final at Wembley about 30 years ago, England v Australia. Not...
Reading this thread I feel so deflated at the manner of our exit.
The French fans near us were incensed by that referee just even in the warm up, with banners and middle finger salutes. They knew what was coming for us and were genuinely kind and sympathetic as we left the stadium.
I am...
Just got back to the hotel. Absolutely gutted but proud of the performance.
Sold my final tickets, cancelled flights and hotel. May or may not bother watching the final. Might feel differently in a week.
On the way out, several sweaties leaping around for joy like it was the best thing that...
Totally agree. And the weather here in Paris for tomorrow looks like Manchester in the summer, that will be a factor at some point. We have a chance, not favourites by a long shot, but a chance. I still think on balance we’ll lose but stranger things have happened.
They are! I said to a couple that I hoped they’d be supporting the only northern hemisphere team left in the tournament and got told they wanted the All Blacks to win. Very strange….. 🤫
Yes we will probably lose, but I disagree that we don’t have at least half a chance.
The game is littered with such examples of unexpected results and performances (think of us beating NZ in the semis last time, or losing as favourites in the final). The Boks have gone through 3 brutal games...
There are no neutrals - supporters of the other tier 1 nations all dislike England. You should have seen the French, Aussies and Scots near me on Sunday roaring on Fiji like their lives depended on it. The Aussies were jumping around hugging each other like they’d just found out they weren’t...
Yes I know mate, I went to both of those games. I got laughed at when I said I had tickets for the final after seeing us lose 36-0 in the group game, but for the width of a gnat’s John Thomas and a French referee we’d have gone on and won the finaL I could see us having one great performance...
We may have had some luck along the way, but factually we are the only team in the semi finals who hasn’t lost a game in this tournament (so far at least…..)
Argentina are far less worthy semi finalists, got hammered by an unworthy team of 14 if I remember correctly?
We are unlikely to beat...
Enjoyed it today, grafted out a win. We are the only undefeated side left in the tournament! I even got chance to meet Itoje and Farrell after the game as they were checking out of the hotel.
I have seen us lose 3/3 to the Saffers in World Cups, including 2 finals. Chance for revenge...
