It would appear that England have turned into Sussex. Obviously, Pakistan are still enjoying the lunchtime buffet and any notion of a wicket before tea is simply clutching at straws.
Indeed. He seems to lack the patience and concentration required for test cricket. I'm pretty certain Stokes will return for Vince, and given that's a settled side I fancy Bell-Drummond will come in for Hales and let Hales concentrate on the 1-day form of the game.
Edit - Cricinfo is saying...
It's just my opinion, but in the last three tests Pakistan aren't making things happen and a slow over rate isn't helping them, it's not making them more accurate, they're not pinning England down and they're not building periods of pressure.
Stumps Day 1 - Pak 3/1, and Broad will be facing nightwatchman Yasir Shah with the new ball first thing in the morning.
I'd put that down as a decent day for England - positive cricket, they'll be feeling good about tomorrow whereas I fancy Pakistan will be rueing the dropped catches and...
I wish Mooen had just batted like this with Finn and hogged the strike more.
In that partnership Finn faced 16 of 22 balls, in this one Anderson has faced just 3 out of 26.
It's about momentum. Pakistan had us on the ropes but they didn't convert, they didn't bowl enough balls at us when they were on top and when they had the momentum.
England have remained positive throughout the day, scoring 4 an over from the word go.
Because they've now got one long 40-over session, one very old ball, two players seeing it like a football and a pissed up crowd whooping up every boundary. England have already piled on 82 runs in 70 mins of 16 overs
Much better to pace yourself over the course of the day. If you have a bad...
If Woakes can manage another 9 runs then England's No. 6, 7 and 8 batsman will all have individually outscored our No. 2, 4 and 5 batsmen in this series.
Once again, Pakistan's bowlers are showing signs of tiredness as England's long tail piles on the hurt in a final session. 17 runs carted off...
England's session that.
108/1 off 26 overs. Critical session for Pakistan now, they'll have to bowl us out in this final session or I fancy they might be done in the series.
Pakistan will have to bat last. Anything over 250 will be very tough to chase down. Therefore, if we can reach 250 in this 1st innings we're very much in the game.
