In Brighton at least. I'm not sure if real ale is quite so readily available throughout the country. London for definite, but I have been on enough away days where it's Spoonies or nothing if you wanted some decent ale.
Can't see it. None of the others have the capacity to produce the amount we require. Unless Dark Star are moving premises again. Kings, Hepworth, Long Man and Arundel are the next biggest and they would probably have to stop supplying half the people they do presently to try to supply the Albion.
Yes, though the alternatives are just as onerous. Woodpecker, Bulmers and Symond's are Heineken's other 'ciders'.
Having just checked it would appear that they have recently relaunched Scrumpy Jack too, which is not too bad I think, extremely unlikely that they are going to be selling 5.5%...
Those figures are way out. Even if we accept that there are 3,000 real ale drinkers, to say that 2500 would drink a cream flow style bitter instead is simply not true. So far on this thread we have seen no one say that they would be happy to drink John Smiths or similar. One thing is for certain...
Not sure :drink:
Actually I am off the booze at the moment in an effort to shift some weight before the season starts and the drinking gets going again.
Really? If the alternative was something decent, which a lot of the ales available through Heineken are I would no be that bothered. I would imagine the cost savings could be as much as £20 a barrel. This is informed speculation based on what I know to be the cheapest Ale prices Heineken offer...
Agreed, I certainly will not be turning up until just before kick off if no ale is available. After the game I will leave pretty sharpish too. At the moment though all we have is a rumour that there will be no Harvey's, knowing what I do about Heineken UK, and their local rep, it is highly...
Maybe Harvey's are reaping the price of over charging everyone for their beer then. Personally as long as there is an alternative real ale available I will not be too put out. It certainly won't be any of the other local breweries though as they do not have the capacity to produce the quantity...
Not sure about the Harvey's UKIP connection, but like you, there a fair few ales made by these breweries that I prefer to Harvey's. Certainly any change from real ale will not be driven by Heineken.
Bozza don't be stupid. John Smith is the biggest selling 'ale' because it is the most widely available by quite some margin, probably by a factor of four or five. If you could buy Harvey's in every pub up and down the land it would out sell John Smith's, easily. Same as Strongbow is the largest...
I think people need to take a look at which breweries own which products. At present all the alcohol, bar the ale, is supplied by Heineken UK. Where I work we are also supplied by Heineken UK. I can assure you that as a company Heineken are spending a lot more time pushing real ales than John...
Not in the same quantities they wouldn't. I certainly won't be staying at the Amex after the game if I cannot get a proper ale, and I am sure I can speak for most of my mates that they would not either.
