You have no point, we'll never know. The arrangement was made to protect his value before the WC and the club have honoured it. He could have had a shit tournament, fallen out of form and barely played then left for a nominal fee (shades of Trossard, we didn't think it would happen but it did)...
Money definitely doesn't buy happiness, he'll adjust but will certainly miss our city, ex team mates and people around the club.
I hope he cements a regular place and does actually win something with Liverpool or it won't have been a great move for footballing reasons either.
