Absolutely spot on......
Players do not 100% strike the ball perfectly, if you follow it, you might get a percentage that don't hit the corner of the net or the join between post and cross-bar
Would have said Dunk was most at fault, everyone pushed up and he stayed and then neglected the player practically standing next to him. Very poor defending.
Ben Roberts was good. Personally I liked Mark Beeney for all round ability. Peter Grummit was dominant in the box and a good all round keeper and of course another great shot stopper was Perry Digweed. Was never that bothered about Moseley and Eric Steele, though of course Mose did produce 2...
We may have to disagree re the third, however excellent point re Kuipers, he possibly would have saved it, as perhaps in the 40 years I've watched I'm not sure we've had a better keeper on his line.
I'm picking up on your point re trust. The thought of trying to get through 2 or 3 players to get to a ball approx. 8-10yds out, IMO shouldn't have even been entering Stockdales mind, it was a poor decision on his part, I don't think that can be debated.
We were comfortable as you say until...
I don't agree, having also played at a fairly reasonable level and trained a number of county league keepers in the last 20 years, the saves vs Wolves, Fulham and Rotherham were certainly to a high level and potential 'game changers'.
Whilst I recognise and agree regarding the need for...
Spot on. The trouble is with our hopeless defence Walton could easily have his confidence damaged and it could set back his development As per my post a few seconds ago, Stockdale is learning as well and is not as poor as many believe.
No, he should have been correctly positioned for that situation, middle of goal or otherwise, there is no way he should have been even considering going out for a flattish cross with several bodies in front of him. By the time he ummd and arrd it was too late.
If he had stayed on his line the...
Trouble is if he stays on his line the ball drops into his arms. Needless free-kick or not there can be no masking the fact that it was a bad, bad mistake.
It is unfortunate because it looked like he had put his early season difficulties behind him.
You'd be better off looking at the left more, excluding set plays, the majority of goals are coming as a result of Bennetts inability to defend.
Which given both of our opinion's, perhaps as you say, it's the entire defence that needs looking at.....
