No. It was announced at the ground as 27,001.
And I still need this number explaining to me as yesterday morning the club were talking about only a few hundred seats left and the prospect of a sell out by kick off.
I wouldn't be so puzzled but for the fact the crowd in the ground appeared...
Yes. The announcement was 27,001 tickets sold including 1901.
I was surprised by that number given that WSU appeared to be very full and all tickets elsewhere were pretty much sold out by Thursday...
The empty bit in SW corner can't have been more than about 1500 tops and The Shelf c.500? So...
I honestly think they know what they are doing.
Opening up areas in stages creates a very effective illusion of ticket scarcity that makes the match seem more appealing and encourages people to get their tickets bought.
There are many different aspects to this. The most obvious one for me is that our stands only ever sing their loudest at the same time as each other...!
And David Blunkett, who must be a reasonable judge of sound levels in a football stadium, described The Amex as generating a "spine tingling wall of noise" such that he had not experienced in 50 years of watching football...
WBA are into S1G now (530 available in that block).
WSU sales are a steadily trickling flow. Difficult to track as more rows are opened up but around 150 sold today so far.
Discussed above but much of WSU (the back half) has not been opened for sale yet... also The Shelf and a segregation area to add to that as unsold.
Is on target for a very positive 25K+ but not much more unless sales (BHA & WBA) speed up this week.
Hopefully will be more. I'd guess that a...
Yes. Good spot - that will be a very interesting web page to follow for the next few days.
Exciting moment imminent this morning as it appears they have only 3 tickets left to sell in S1F...
I think you've misunderstood.
4K left in WSU...
WBA have done well with South Stand and seem to be on target for sell out of their allocation or close to.
Yes. And ticket sales in WSU have been a bit disappointing. In round numbers only c.1,500 have been sold leaving c.4,000 empties up there....?
If WBA sell out the South Stand then we are on about 26K at the moment. Hopefully sales will go well this week.
Thanks for the update.
Looks like the Baggies fans are up for the cup and will bring quite an army down from the West Midlands. Should be a cracking occasion and that prospect will help shift tickets in the home stands too...
Does anyone know if WBA have to pay for tickets they don't sell from their 4,300 allocation? Presumably we offered them pretty much whatever number they wanted up to that maximum. If they do have to pay for unsold tickets then that would suggest they are actually confident of selling the 4,300.
Update from WBA ticket office.
They are "about half way through" selling their 4,300 allocation. Have been on sale to STH since Monday and Members since yesterday but only one ticket per fan number.
Tickets go on General Sale tomorrow. Impossible to say whether they will sell out or not...
