You hear from Scottish people a lot do you? Seems more feasible to me that you have probably heard that once or twice and because it fits in with yours, and a fair few others judging by this thread, prejudice you've decided to focus on that aspect. Regards the last bit, it wasn't just some of...
The difference being the EPL were considering inviting Rangers and Celtic in, therefore it is an argument that has more weight as it could have, and may one day, actually happen (though I doubt it). That last sentence wasn't really necessary, was it?
I love a mutually comfortable "I really don't want to talk to you or anyone else for that matter" silence and I learned at a tender age NEVER to wind a cabbie up.
If you read the rest of the thread you'll see that I am not arguing with any of your assessment there, save maybe for your final sentence which I would take issue with.
You might be right, I'm pretty certain we'll never know for sure, for the reasons already stated. Mind you, it'd be a dull old footballing world if we all took off our tinted shades wouldn't it?
Fair enough chap, I probably shouldn't have come straight here after fending off some particularly vile people on Twitter on the same subject. I'll stick the kettle on now and chill the **** out.
They may not be, but I'd wager Celtic in particular have a far greater potential global appeal than clubs like Newcastle or Villa if they were inducted to the EPL.
Used to get a fair bit at Liverpool v Everton, probably not so much these days. I'm not denying it's on a different level, and that the sectarianism is a blight on their clubs, but it doesn't define them and is all too often used as a stick to beat Scottish fans as a whole with, which is grossly...
Ok old chap, I'll accept a charge of slight overreaction. I'm certainly not spoiling for a fight, though I do look good in makeup. Take this next bit how you want, but it may or may not be of interest to you in understanding how some people feel about the terminology used, it's from one of many...
Oh, ok petal. And yes, your sneering and arrogant posts on this thread have all the hallmarks of CASUAL racism towards the Scottish that I hear way too often.
I think you'll find you've just made it. What's your point, other than showing off a spot of casual anti-Celt racism? Do you not get the irony of banging on about 'filthy sectarianism' in the same breath as 'Scotch goons'?
It's quite simple really, if either or both were playing in the EPL the revenue they would generate would give them the finances to buy some of the best players in the world and they would very soon be on a par with the biggest clubs in England in spending power, ticket sales for every game...
Spot on.
For the record, my beef isn't with Rogers' decision, it makes a lot of sense, but with the general attitude of the OP, echoed here by quite a few it seems.
The post I was replying to was arrogant in my opinion, and it's an arrogant attitude I hear a lot when people talk about Celtic and Rangers, thinking they'd be playing in the Championship if they were down here, utter nonsense. The EPL has only become what it has because of the obscene amounts...
