First 5 tracks are all winners (especially American Valhalla), really like Paraguay at the end as well.
Best opening line on the album (from Sunday)
"This house, is as slick as a Senator's statement."
Give it a go. I think Josh Homme has got his level of support and input just right on this. You can hear the QOTSA in there, but he doesn't "Homme" all over it, so to speak. Breathed new life into Iggy by giving him a superb support band, IMO.
Thanks for the tip, will get on it. I've never been as into sub-Interpol bands (Editors, White Lies, She Wants Revenge) but definitely worth a go, have heard good things about them as well.
Curious to see others "Best albums of 2016 so far" lists....
For me I'm struggling to see past;
1. Bowie - Blackstar
2. Iggy Pop - Post Pop Depression
Disappointed by;
M83 - Junk
Need to give more time to:
Deftones - Gore
Savages - Adore
Yuck - Stranger Things
Porches - Pool
Really...
I found KOL a tough one to crack. Am a huge fan of The Eraser and you can hear a fair bit of Yorke's solo electronic stuff on KOL, but it just didn't quite work for me. Possibly my least favourite Radiohead album.
Woah woah woah woah
Late 60s - brilliant
Early mid 70s - decent
The Berlin trilogy (late 70s) - some of the best music ever committed to tape
80s - mixed, but side A of Let's Dance is completely perfect pop
90s - yeah hmm
00s - fair enough
The Next day - A decent return to form.
Blackstar -...
I know I would say this, but MY WORD this new Bowie album is good. Love his NYC jazz backing band and that partly makes it for me. James Murphy was involved on a few bits as well.
