You can't really disagree with the wording of the law as that's what it is. If you disagree with the interpretation that's a different thing and there are certainly pushes that happen all the time that are considered part of the game. The VAR must have decided that it wasn't an obvious mistake...

No, the laws say it is a foul if a player pushes an opponent carelessly (just a free kick); recklessly (free kick and yellow card); or with excessive force (free kick and red card). To me that was a careless push and therefore a foul.
