Couple of new ones:
Med, Brighton
'Small plates' does my box a bit sometimes but this was good stuff. Padron peppers were superb as was a whole stuffed mackerel. Clams in chorizo was if anything a bit too chorizoy. Chicken romesco was the only slight let down. Mrs MBH and I both absolutely...
I'm tempted to go for this (pocoloco, not the wine) - have you reordered recently?
In other news got Med booked for next week and I'm inordinately excited about if. Looks right up my camino
We were discussing precisely that in the office. Maybe 30+ yrs? I went in sometime over the winter for the first time in ages for a fantastic solo lunch; pint of cobra and a huge bellyful of mixed veg curry and dahl. Genuinely I'm sad to see it go.
Actually it was a bottle of Cobra I think
Just seen Bombay Aloo on Ship Street is reopening as something else (it looks chicken-y).
Sad day for everyone who is a fan of huge urns full of suspiciously lukewarm cheap veggie curry.

Then last night Maroccos which is always excellent if, like me, you are a fan in equal measure of fish / Italian / huge portions.
I couldn't finish my dessert...

I won't bang on about it except to say that the Troll is remains the absolute king of burgers in Brighton, and being able to eat one in the warmth and...
One (the bread) had marmite in it, which I suppose is what switched my mind onto the idea. A few others had that strong savoury saltiness that you get when you add marmite to your chilli or somesuch. It's not necessarily bad, it's just that they were very dark and rich and, for want of a better...
Etch
9 course menu plus decent Burgundy and a cocktail each for two: £270
Nitpicks:
Slightly slow on the wine order
Lots of courses were marmitey; the bread, the meat sauces were all extremely umami-ey.
Positives:
Great to have a variety of servers
Informal and friendly
Great bogs
Standout...
