BG - I recommend trying either Burger Brothers or Brighton Burger - both are very central and from both you can get an excellent quality burger for under £7.
:lolol: Never change BG.
The woman on the next table had chips with hers but you'd probably have to pay an extra few quid for them I reckon.
Incidentally good to see Bardsleys doing very brisk business as well as I walked past.
SEMOLINA
I've just been blown away. Didn't have a clue about this place and I can't believe the value.
I had a 3 course set menu lunch of 1) warm goats cheese, walnut & beetroot salad; 2) pork belly, red cabbage and celeriac and 3) tarte tatin. Every single but was impeccably cooked and tasted...
Little Fish Market last week.
Very delicious but very expensive.
£150 for 2 people - 5 courses and 5 paired wines.
I reckon the Silo tasting menu is marginally better.
Dinner at The Schooner tonight. Cannae wait.
There really is something to be said for his refusal to compromise in any way on stuff like quality of ingredients or doing things 'the right way' (and god knows he normally charges enough for the privilege). I just hope that he can find some sort of business model that doesn't rely on pricing a...
I admire him, and he is certainly to be lauded for doing things 'his way', but The Troll doesn't half make some odd decisions sometimes. Was the kebab as good as it looked?
I really like both Morris & Jaques and Neighbourhood.
Grubbs is obviously brilliant. So is the Ginger Dog.
Egg and Spoon is very good.
I would swerve 24 St George's.
I wouldn't say it's hyped particularly more than any other half-decent (or better) food opening in Brighton - it benefits from being in a very visible location and well known as an existing brand. I reckon there has been more hype around Polpo to be honest.
Polpo for lunch.
Pretty good value. The fried meatballs, milanese chicken and crab linguine were excellent as were the pizzeti. Also had baby octopus, soft shell crab and a whole bunch of nibbly things Came in at £60 for 2 with a drink each. I was full and happy.
