Well done to Hamilton. Effectively only competing with his teammate during this Merc period of dominance in the hydrid era, but a very impressive career nonetheless.
Must be odds on to make it 7 next season.
With a big regs change coming in in 2021 it will be interesting to see how teams...
Congratulations to Mercedes- 6 in a row [emoji3060]
Merc also guaranteed the driver title and Hamilton might take it in Mexico if he finishes in front of Bottas (currently 73 points ahead with a maximum of 78 available after Mexico)
Well... I said it was Leclerc's to lose!
I missed the start so not sure if Ferrari dropped the ball there. They seemed to keep Vettel out so that Leclerc could pass using the undercut which seemed like it would have compromised Vettel to some extent- had he been able to continue, so not sure...
I only managed to see brief highlights but the dodgiest part looked like where CLC took that little slip road to cut a corner, and by doing to maintained the lead. Presumably he would have had to slow down significantly / lock up to keep within track limits which could have resulted in him...
Caught up with highlights this morning- great race. That Hamilton pitstop was carnage- someone needs to dub the Benny Hill music over the footage of that, proper headless chickens. Exactly what I would be like at every pitstop if I was involved!!
Still reserving judgement on what happens with...
Great result for Hamilton, but anyone hoping for a championship battle this season better start supporting Bottas, as its looking unlikely anyone else is going to step up.
A couple of side stories I found interesting-
Hamilton came across a bit batty in his incessant race radio chatter...
Max V got to be penalised for that release- 10 sec stop go?
Charles screwed his own car there rushing in with a puncture- could have just nursed it in with minimal damage..
Great for Hamilton! Only his 2nd pole in Monaco.
Ferrari are getting close to farce levels- it's SO frustrating when a team holds a driver in the pits and watches them drop out of Q1 / Q2. They're ruining what could have been a great season for Leclerc- mind you he's still lucky to be there, as...
Still processing the news of Lauda's passing- but Monaco gets underway this morning with FP1.
No idea how the weekend is going to play out- possibly the track will be a bit of a field leveller and we could see someone other than the 2 Mercs on pole / winning the race? I guess a big part of it...
Some interesting bit and bobs which didn't quite come to fruition, ended up playing out in pretty simple fashion. See what the upgrade packages bring to Barcelona in 2 weeks time.
Enjoyed Danny Ric reversing his car into Kvyat- proper supermarket car park antics!
Not sure what happened with Hamilton and Bottas there- commentators said they were doing practice starts but it looked to me like they just decided to let the other cars pass them to get their own space for their laps? Looked like it was left a bit tight and Hamilton may have suffered... or...
So to Baku- Charles Leclerc looking good to at least qualify ahead of Vettel and I would like to see CL take a victory this weekend TBH to cause them even more problems with their team orders in the races to come.
No idea about pole, as the Mercs often keep their cards close to their chest...
