I'd seen that Guardian review, but my impression is that there are certain people on this thread that have their finger closer to the pulse even than those Guardian journos :)
I'm going to have to get it given just how good Ty Segall's albums/live performances are. Haven't heard that...
This for me is the stand out track on the album. Love that bass clarinet on it, which has a really distinctive sound (I had to ask my partner what it is; being a former clarinettist, think she was pleased to ask).
Now Johnny Rotten performing live for The Sex Pistols in the 70s is one of the most exciting things to behold. John Lydon, by contrast, I find entirely tiresome. I think I've heard that Sleaford Mods-esque track and that just about says it all, he's derivative, and a has-been. Derivative...
Enjoyed this review of John Grant's new album, especially the first paragraph:

And I'm getting more and more attached to Julia Holter's new album. There's a lot of talk associating Joanna Newsom with...
Loving that Low album which is a real return to form, has three or four stunning tracks on it, has more Mimi singing (which is a good thing, for me), and in places exudes menace (which is also a good thing). Easily in my top ten of this year.
That said, I'm now two tracks into a 2013 album that...
Heard about three or four tracks from Prince's new one while buying some stuff in Resident yesterday. Sounding good. And after more than a decade of indistinct tosh, Low's new one sounds like a real return to form. Have got them both, so will have to give them a few spins before firming up on these.
Yup. It's fantastic, one of my -- if not the -- album of the year so far. Speaking of which, I haven't been taken by any reviews of any new albums for months now, so I'm wondering if others want to indicate anything from this year. The best albums from this year I've heard include:
Matthew E...
Have you heard that new Low track? I've heard it once on Marc Riley, and it was back to top form. (I don't think what they've done since Things We Lost in the Fire has been up to much.) Hopefully the new album out later on this year is of a similar standard.
Am enjoying that Mbongwana Star album: it's full of energy, and sounds like nothing else. Less impressed with the new Cave and Ellis film score, especially in comparison with their earlier filmic output.
I might be wrong on this, but there hasn't been too many mentioning Matthew E White's Fresh...
I like the new Godspeed album, and thinks it works as a whole, the second and third 'drone' tracks bookending two wonderful soundscapes.
And this year's album that no-one seems to have mentioned that is just excellent is Matthew E White's Fresh Blood. Its arrangements are simply stunning, the...
I'm a big fan of that Ghostpoet album too but, at the moment, I'm particularly enjoying that Follakzoid album called III which has prevented me from even listening to the new Godspeed album. Thanks to @springhallconvert for the recommendation.
