Yep - never call it ice hockey in NA - its just hockey! Hockey and basketball seasons run pretty much concurrently. Knicks and Rangers take it in turns to play at MSG. If you are in NY towards the end of the year you can pretty much guarantee there will either be an NHL or NBA game to see.
