ELO, A New World Record - trumped with: Out of the Blue... Simply staggering. And before you say it :/ I've always been a fan, even when ELO was THE byword for shite in one or two critical circles. Ahem.

Mountain - Climbing, topped (and then some) by Nantucket Sleigh Ride. Totally agree with Neil Young. Radiohead - Amnesiac, sonically their best and contains some of the best and most original music I've ever heard.

Soundgarden too, to follow Superunknown with Down on the Upside... Magnificent stuff.

For really eclectic; I'd put Cressida in there for a beautiful debut, topped by the awesome Asylum. Gravy Train too, a benchmark debut of swirly prog, jazz and blues, topped by the sophomore: Ballad... and taken to new highs on Staircase to the Day... Superb.

I'd say Sparklehorse, topped two bench marks with: it's a Wonderful Life. In the mainstream, I'd say... Beck, who regularly marks his bench and then tops it with a layer of musical varnish. A genius.
