[Misc] Religion - the Church of England - what future?

Am bowing out of this thread as I am fed up with personal abuse and people expecting Christians to prove there is a God. I don't need that in my life write now. Nor do I have time for an in depth debate. There is very little point arguing if there is a God or not - it cannot be proved A couple...

[Misc] Religion - the Church of England - what future?

You may have noticed most of my posts are quite short - this is largely because I am incredibly busy with a lot going on in my life. I asked you a question about one part of your post (which you answered). I replied to a few other posts too but then went to bed and work today - hope that's ok...

Who has said God is a man in the sky? Certainly not what Christians believe. In terms of proof I don't believe there is any clear cut proof - that's why it is called faith (there is evidence but that is very different). I would also say there is also no clear cut proof that God does not exist

You think phrases such as "imaginary sky fairy" aren't mocking? Comments about people stopping believing on God as they become more intelligent?

Christian Aid is empowering Psychopaths in Somalia???? Never heard anyone argue that Christian aid is a bad thing before. You say you don't need a God to be good and I agree with you BUT as I have said sociologists/criminologists have found that religion is a factor that controls crime and...

Absolutely all of what you have said here could also apply to a Christian's life.

I didn't realise there was a rule on here that I had to reply to every single point made. I chose one point and asked a question based on that. It's a shame that you have to resort to mocking/rudeness ("imaginary sky fairy") rather than be prepared to debate with respect

Not going to impose my beliefs on anyone. It's up to everyone to consider things for themselves and make their own decisions as far as I'm concerned. In terms of a waste of time at best - I think you are ignoring a lot of very good deeds that have been done because of Christianity (eg Christian...

They may claim they are but i would argue they are not a good representation of Christianity.

Disagree with pretty much everything you have written. One question though - why do you think you cannot have an amazing life if you are a Christian?

You are entitled to your opinion on why religion exists but I completely disagree. In terms of crime there are a number of factors (including family and wealth) but sociologists/criminologists agree that religion is an influencing factor with religious people found to commit less crime.

[Misc] Religion - the Church of England - what future?

I just feel it is really sad that people cannot have a debate on religion without resorting to mocking/rudeness/belittling. Getting back to the original theme sociology and criminology studies show that religion is one of the main factors that controls crime with religious people far less...

There is a big difference between criticism and mocking/belittling. One shows respect while the other clearly doesn't

If they are saying this to you think about why that may be. They are not saying it to be rude - they will be saying it because it is what they believe and they don't want that happening to you (going to hell that is). In terms of being a sinner Christians believe that we are ALL sinners and...

No problem in you asking at all. I do believe prayers are heard. I do believe in heaven. For what it's worth I also believe in respecting other people's views - it is a shame so many people on this thread who do not believe in a god have to be so insulting/rude toward those that do.

[Misc] Religion - the Church of England - what future?

I'm a Christian and have been all my life. I used to go to church regularly but tend to go less and less now. My beliefs haven't changed at all however. The reason I am going less is that quite frankly I find it very boring a lot of the time. I don't particularly like hymns and lots of the...
