Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

You stated that you had paid for it, then accepted that you hadn't paid for all of it, and now accept that you haven't paid for that bit yet either - so in summary you haven't paid for it!

Yes it was, you are the ONLY supporter likley to be able to prove he has a valid rail pass for the whole of the following season! Your rules not mine - re-read one of your recent threads that Bozza has already shot-down!

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

You haven't actually paid for now have you? The benefit in kind goes on to your P11D which then gets charged from the following tax year. So in effect the rail pass you are using at this very minute won't actually start being paid for until around 5th April 2012 and then split over the next 52...

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

Actually you only pay for 40% of it - the remaining 60% you don't actually pay for!

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

Ahhh! I've got it now! So what you've spent the last seven hours saying is that out of a crowd of 30,000 supporters 29,999 can have the price of travel included in their ticket effectively giving them free travel for the season and 00,001 can have a £30 discount - you!:nono:

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

The point here is clearly that the cost of milk and sugar is charged to everyone who buys the cup of tea even if they chose not to use it - the cost of travel is charged to everyone who buys the ticket even if they chose not to use it. I've not seen anybody moan about the cost of tea, let alone...

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

Why do you pay the same price for a cup of tea in a cafe even if you don't take milk or sugar - how is that fair?

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

Now if you really want something to moan about why is a cheesburger around 50p more than a normal burger when the slice of processed cheese only costs around 1p!

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

On this thread you have one opinion while everyone else has a different opinion; I tend to think the vast majority has the correct opinion here.

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

Probably all those who provide a travel subsidy of some sort, or lay on additional buses, or ask local rail companies to provide additional trains after the match, or have to provide a local parking zone, or who pay for stewards to prevent people entering private streets in cars, or pay for...

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

I'm afraid you're wrong there! 2011-12 Personal Tax Allowance is £7,475 and then the 40% tax rate is charged on £35,001 above that so you need to earn £42,476 to commence paying 40% tax!
  14. K

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

So you are paying 40% tax on a benefit in actual value of around £3,000 and you therefore earn in excess of circa £50,000 per annum and you are moaning about £30 per year! God help us!

Says the man who started this discussion wearing the most rosiest of all rose tinted glasses and hasn't once taken them off!

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

So for clarity - are you actually paying £1,200 tax PA on this benefit or are you (more likely) paying £240 tax PA? And if your company pays for this ticket for you then where do they recoup their money - I'd guess they add it to the cost of their services which means all their customers are...

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

That's life basically! If everything is free then they are also paying nothing so nothing that they can complain about. We all pay extra tax to subsidise pensioners winter fuel allowance when some of them have enough savings and spend winter abroad in any case. A gay couple have to pay tax to...

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

There is no benefit to Southern to check the vouchers as they get a set fee from the club for providing the transport - are you sure you are following this as this was explained earlier in the thread. Simply the idea of a travel voucher scheme was good but in practice it is unworkable because...

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

People who are vehamently anti the idea can chose not to buy a ticket in the first place. There is a waiting list for ST's so if you are not prepared to pay the price asked for a ticket then go elsewhere and someone else will buy your ticket.

Argus Letters re Parking in Coldean

If Mrs Hut buys herself a new jumper from Marks and Spencer then she isn't just paying for that jumper she is also paying a subsidy to cover the cost of clothes stolen by shoplifters. Those supporters who use public transport without paying for the travel vouchers are, in effect, shoplifting...
