Ian Botham was saying yesterday that England tried to change him - they were obsessed about the fact that he drops his head when he bowls and does not look where he is bowling. When he first started for England (I think he was 17), he was raw but talented, then gradually got worse, presumably...
Nope. The only person who heard the nick was Matt Prior. We heard it from the stump microphone. If Aleem Dar had heard it he would have given it out without review.
Fabulous match. Brilliant bowling from Anderson, great catches from Cook and some excellent batting from the Aussies to get that...
Very true. Aus should be at least 10/1 to win though, surely. 13/5 to do something that has never happened before (ie score over 300 to win at Trent Bridge) is very stingy.
Only 26 teams in test history (out of 554 attempts) have scored more than 300 to win a test match (4.7%). Teams chasing more than 300 have lost 336 times, drawn 191 and tied once. (courtesy of the BBC)
Australia won't get 300, so it is just the time needed to skittle them out really. 4 sessions is usually what they would aim at to do that.
As I posted that, Broad is out, so expect the Aussies in in about 45 minutes! Well played to him, even though he should have walked.
Interesting comments on Sky re walking and them justifying not doing so as "no one does these days". Even though Bairstow effectively did just that when he was out as he had already turned around and started walking off before the umpire gave him out.
I'm with you on this one. Don't like to see...
