The Twin Towers were designed to withstand an impact by a large plane. They designed like this because in 1945 (I think) The Empire State Building was hit by an Air Force B25 Mitchel Bomber in dense fog. Although a fully laden Airliner flying at full chat was probably not what they had in mind.

I can fly an airliner if someone gets it off the ground for me. In fact I do it quite often in a simulator, a real simulator that real pilots train in. So far I've flown, unaided, a 737, an Airbus A320 and numerous executive jets, the Dassault Falcon being the most fun.
