It’s obviously not binary. But for many games we set up to win a point and this was often the primary objective and motive. Put frankly, this is not why I watch football. And I believe we could have done more and created more last season.

I think we have, fundamentally, a different outlook. In sport, I’d much rather try something, and fail, than not try at all. Not trying is dull. And not trying isn’t competitive....which is the whole point of sport in my mind.
You have to judge most teams in the context of the same team. You wouldn’t judge Brighton against Man United and say they’re a failure. Same with Newcastle. I also wouldn’t say 2nd place is a failure or a club like Newcastle. They have achieved their greatest success in the past 100 years with...
