This. Last Sunday I saw Tom Dicicco and Bicep knock out a Sunday techno session. Weekend before I saw Sebastian Voigt at an low key open-air party. It's very much alive both in the underground and at the very commercial end.

This. The party scene here never seems to die. Every summer there are new open-air places springing up to go with the already established indoor events.

As an aside, is it just me that thinks the old-skool rave stuff sounds really slow when you listen to it today?

You're getting confused. It was the rave scene which killed Leah Betts, not the other way round.
