I cant imagine running the most congested heavy-rail railway on the continent is easy, especially with tight turnarounds at each end of the route, the slightest delay will always have knock-ons - simple as that. There is also differences between a train and a car, 1 costs a couple of grand...

To/from South-east London a couple of times a week - yeah. Got to be flexible these days.

You can pick an alternative route here if you arent stubborn, its called going to Victoria or Elephant and Castle or Blackfriars. It isnt the ONLY way home and you arent being forced via London Bridge.

Always gets busy there - seems like normal from Victoria. Had it been at Croydon where the incident happened.....

Holes dont appear from nowhere, probably aging infrastructure which has eroded over time and finally given way, lucky it wasnt a total failure of the bridge where the whole appeared, could have been a major incident otherwise. This seriously needs investigating.

According to Twitter, Network Rail are estimating a 6PM fix. Sounds a bit far-fetched if its a "large hole". Surely its got to be properly checked so maybe, i dont know, a train doesnt fall through ? Then it actually needs fixing.

HIGHLY unlikely it shall be, id look at an alternative route now. From London Bridge, there is no direct service to Brighton or pretty much anywhere now except a limited service to Caterham. London Victoria services are unaffected though.

3 lines out of 4 shut until further notice - travel via Victoria if possible, TFL accepting tickets. FCC avoiding London Bridge but will make additional stops at Elephant and Castle to connect to the Northern Line to London Bridge. Must be more than the usual broken rail or signal issue to shut...
