I saw them in a cinema venue in north London in 1977, supported by Ultravox (the John Foxx version). Happy days
Edit: DAYWD was an example of the short lived genre, 'power pop'. Airport (oo oo oo oo)
To be fair to Hendrix, he did seem interested in music in the wider sense. I saw some film a few years ago of his later work as a band member with at least 5 people, contributing in an unstated way to making organic music rather than going on a virtuoso head-wank (sort of Robin Trower career...
I may have added to this virtuosity virtue-narrative by commenting on the skills of John McLaughlin. Whoops!
One of the nice things about punk (British) was that nobody went on about musical virtuosity.
I'm sure that someone with sand in their vagina will be along in a moment to peer down...
Good question. The independent labels were regarded (rightly or wrongly) as indicative of authenticity. If it was on a major label it was treated with suspicion. But most importantly, if you were browsing and came across a new release on a label you knew had released stuff you'd bought and...
It is decidedly more interesting than 77, isn't it.
(Neither year match my favorite of years 20+ ago though: 1983; for albums and 12" remixes rather than 7" singles, obvs).
Not if you're autistic, it isn't. Or if you're thinking of flogging them. Or simply feel like making a list.
Passing snide comments about my doing so, though, that, in my opinion, is being a twat. Other opinions are of course available
Strange thing to say. Sounds like faux modesty to me, or some sort of blurt. Gallagher didn't hit his stride till some years after 1970. Irish tour, 74. And even then....not even the best Irish guitarist for me.
There was a limited run of either the first Damned single with one of the Hot Rods in the photo, or the other way around. Can't remember which. Alas both my sleeves are the conventional ones
What makes you think that? I was trained to never argue motive when attempting criticize other people. You have no idea what I want :lolol:
And why would I seek to be 'cool' by admitting I own 'trash'?
I may be wrong, but think you might be a bit of a twat
Bored during a meeting today, I pulled out all my 7 inch singles. Punk (and reggae) singles took my interest from around 76 but I stopped buying singles entirely by 83. Not much American (shit) there ;) Apologies if the past below is too big for your phone. I have blocked each year into...
I agree with your first point. And I suspect I have most of them
Second point is harsh. The track below is not 'fashionable' but it is amazing. f***ing amazing.
There is another version of the same online with actual concert sound.
Incidentally Hendrix died in 1970 so I find it hard to imagine he rated this (below), one album by Taste, the sum total of stuff Gallagher had released in the US by 1970, as better than Hendrix's own lifetime output. There may be a banger in here, but . . . really? ???
I hate that record. I saw them at the Roxy and the stage was taken over by the naffest nobs ever. They looked like wanky football supporters, season ticket holders at Colchester or Leyton Orient. I swear one of them was wearing a tank top.
I did buy 'I don't wanna' ('Red London/Ulster'...
I've seen Man. Twice. Once at the Top Rank where they did only three (long tedious) numbers, and later at the Dome, with Deke Leonard, doing more snappy short tunes.
As for Cherry Red, one of my favourite albums by Eyeless in Gaza (Rust Red September) is on that label. It was an 'alternative'...
