So, erm, this didn't happen. Sorry.
Happy to hand over a template of the spreadsheet to whoever wants it (or can improve on it) for the new season, but I won't have time to do it myself.
Hi all, just a quick note to apologise for lack of updates to this recently - typical this happens during our best run of the season. I probably won't get the chance to catch right up for a while as I'm in the process of moving out of the UK. Hope to be caught up in early April.
Sorry for irregular updates at the mo. Life getting in the way a bit.
Still, I'm up to date now. MOMs for the last four matches:
v West Brom (a) - Sam Baldock 5.98 - the first MOM to go to a sub, and also the lowest MOM score this season
v Chelsea (h) - Ezequiel Schelotto 8.20
v Southampton...
And finally back up to date. This took a while so I'm just going to post MOMs for the six games since the last update:
v Spurs (a) - Shane Duffy 6.81
v Burnley (h) - Mat Ryan 7.98
v Watford (h) - Connor Goldson 8.38
v Chelsea (a) - Mat Ryan 7.54
v Newcastle (a) - Mat Ryan 8.18
v Bournemouth (h)...
Sheet updated with the two latest games...
v Liverpool (h)
MOM was Izzy Brown with 6.63
2nd Gaetan Bong 6.60
3rd Anthony Knockaert 6.03
Worst Davy Propper 4.73
v Huddersfield (a)
MOM Mat Ryan 6.05
2nd Lewis Dunk 5.85
3rd Dale Stephens 5.20
Worst Ezequiel Schelloto with an astonishing 2.50...
And here is the leaderboard after 14 games. Figure in brackets is games played with a rating allocated. Minimum qualification is 50% of games allocated a rating (Gaetan Bong misses out by one game, otherwise he'd be in fifth)
Lewis Dunk ( 14 ) 7.59
Shane Duffy ( 14 ) 7.21
Solly March ( 11 )...
Next set:
v Stoke (h)
Joint MOM - Dale Stephens and Davy Propper - 7.58 (they never give the ball a-waaaay)
3rd - Glenn Murray - 6.98
Worst performer - Anthony Knockaert - 5.58
v Man Utd (a)
Three-way joint MOM - Anthony Knockaert, Pascal Gross and Shane Duffy - 8.00
Worst performer...
Updated now after the Swansea game (apols for the long wait, pure laziness on my part)
Swansea (a)
MOM - Lewis Dunk 7.89 - his 5th MOM of the season
2nd Shane Duffy 7.61
3rd Glenn Murray 7.50
Worst Pascal Gross 5.67
I think it's fair to say that Dunk and Duffy are having a decent season so far.
Aaaaand we're back. Latest spreadsheet here, with the last three games added.
To save upping three old match threads, I'll summarise here. You will notice a theme.
Everton (h)
MOM - Mat Ryan 8.35 - his second MOM in a row
2nd - Lewis Dunk 7.78
3rd - Shane Duffy 7.68
Worst - Glenn Murray 5.30...
Not a big fan of median averages for this, as it would tie all marks to the integer (or possibly half point) which I think is a bit brutal.
What I did consider was knocking off the two highest and two lowest marks, like how diving/gymnastics(?) is marked. But I haven't got the spreadsheet...
Updated spreadsheet here, including the Arsenal game.
Dunk unsurprisingly still way out in front for the season and will probably keep that position for a while, even if he has a couple of stinkers.
I'm off on holiday the morning after the Everton game (yes I'm going on holiday etc etc) and...
Updated with Newcastle ratings.
Dunk still out in front with season average 7.69, March up slightly to 7.31 and Duffy now 6.99.
I'll probably give this thread a kick every month or so to look at the general trends, but mostly I'll update in the match-by-match rating threads.
Point very much taken and I might up the 'sub rating' threshold a bit more. And as for the 'average of average' thing, I get that it's not a 'true' average but the noise on this would get smoothed out pretty reasonably over a 38-game season. (Not doing cup games btw)
EDIT - changed the minimum...
I did threaten to do this last year but didn't have nearly enough time. However work is very quiet now, so...
BEHOLD, THE MIGHTY COLLATED GOOGLE SHEET OF NSC'S PLAYER RATINGS
So yeah, as and when I get time I'll try and stick your player ratings in here. I'll put the first 20 submissions in...
