    The problem with that system is that will very closely mirror the make-up of the HoC - how would minority parties be represented? The attraction of a second chamber, to me, is that will give a voice to smaller parties and genuine independents

    Yeah, but I was thinking more how it would be elected? A form of PR or FPTP (and, if so, how would it be defined?). If PR, what form? Party list? STV? MMP? Personally, I wouldn't have elections at all. I'd go back to the ancient Greeks and have a senate chosen by ballot. You pick the names...

    I'm sure that will be part of the discussion. I don't see how an unelected second chamber is deemed unacceptable but an unelected head of state is fine. I could certainly see a case for both being abolished.

    You've been badly misinformed on that. Corbyn himself voted against Labour policy more than 500 times and not only has he not been dismissed from the party, he's leading it :lolol:

    It's all very well talking about the abolition of the Lords but what are they going to put in its place? We're surely not going to have a unicameral system.
