One other thing about this: how do people know when match day is. Suppose someone who hates football drives over to see Uncle Jim for the weekend parks on Friday night, goes out for Saturday and comes back to find car towed away.Is is incumbent on people to know when the Albion fixtures are...
MIne hasn't arrived yet but I shall be voting no too. I think the planned yellow lines on Hawkhurst and Forest Road are needed regardless of the football - it's tricky for buses to turn into Forest and Hawkhurst is right by the school, I have to peer out between parked cars to cross the road...
I didn't say that. I said 1.5 cars per household in the 4000 households in Coldean AND Moulsecoomb (as per Argus story) - that's 6,000. And not all of them are parked on the streets: most of the houses in Rushlake have carports or paved over gardens. So, in terms of parking on the streets -...
I misread the Argus story. I thought it said the club would pay for the consultation, I thought it said the cost of the permits. I'm sure, however, that Lord B has previously said the club would pay for the permits if necessary.
Even if true, I do think the club should set a ceiling on the...
I mentioned this earlier. It seems mad to me - 4000 homes, let's say 1.5 cars per home (not unreasonable - there are two cars per home for virtually every house in our street and there some houses down Rushlake that have about five cars). Add the free permit per home.
That's 10000 x £120 =...
What does ALL residents mean? Park Road and Rushlake Road? Or all residents of Coldean? I live in Coldean and we've heard nothing about this at all. Most people around me don't really give a toss as we're not affected by parking on match days - they do worry that resident permits might be...
There are signs in Park Road and Rushlake Road this morning "Residents only - no football parking". They were up very early too as they were there at 8.00. I'm not sure that they have any legal force but it will be interesting to see what parking is like today.
As I said earlier, there was a vehicle damaged in our street. We spoke to the bloke whose car was damaged but he said the police could do little about it as there were no witnesses - there's no CCTV in Coldean so I imagine that if someone wanted to damage the car of a visitor, the police would...
This is Coldean, not Fiveways :) - there are very few 7-seaters around me
Lot of taxis in Coldean and lots of works vans - every third person in Coldean seems to be a brickie, sparks, plumber or plasterer.
Still lots of cars on verges though, despite this only happening on football days
Indeed. The situation got so bad near the school that the police were called out once or twice and eventually the Selham Close entrance was closed for a few weeks.
BTW, just been into Coldean and counted four cars on the verge in Rushlake Road in just 100m.
This is very true - just take a look at the verges on Rushlake Road, they're not in that state after one night of football. I did say a few weeks ago that evening games might be a bit of test - there's normally lots of space on Saturday.
I don't really see what the club can do though - they can...
