I don't think many would disagree with you to be honest, though as others have said I'd imagine it's not profitable enough for garages to use up space they could devote to a 4th drink chiller or sausage roll warmer.

And if you want to wander down cobbled lanes to fetch your loaf of Hovis you're going to be sorely disappointed as well. Though, happily, the petrol station will probably have some just next to the shiny coffee machine.
