As a resident of 20+ years, it's not a terrible pub - it used to be better under previous ownership but not the worst place to stop. Tried becoming more of a gastro-pub than a drinking hole which lost some of its charm. Personally i'd carry on the A283 and stop at the White Hart on Stopham...
