Had it been opened from the outset, STH's would have had the chance to sit in their own seats. The crowd figure would have been the same or more (some only like their own seats, so could have lost some). There is no argument that can suggest that this approach has maximised the size of the...
You also have to build in the merchandise as well. Food, drink, shop buys, programme. It all adds up. I wouldn't be surprised if on average a fan at a match spends £10+ on top of their ticket.
1901 are included in the pretendance. But given its free and they are allowed to pass them on the cup games have been pretty well attended to date anyway, so largely irrelevant.
I think you are underestimating the no shows there. 10 loyalty points, and relatively cheap tickets (especially for kids), I'd suggest a 10% no show.
ps) Together with the North Stand, the 1901 section was the most well attended section for the Palace game and I don't expect this to be any...
So when do we think the cut off is fo opening West Upper? How late would they do it? I can't see them bothering unless East Upper is sold out by Tuesday?
Premier League rule is it is tickets sold. I think outside of the Premier League it is up to the club. Pretty sure we will announce tickets sold number.
It really is going to happen isn't it? So what you doing, piling into the East Upper or holding your nerve for your normal seat in the West Upper next week?
ps) glad you have finally got the FA Cup bug after those nasties from Palace have gone home :)
Fair point, but having sat in second front row of the North East corner, I can tell you the view is a crock of shite compared to the view from any of the upper tiers anywhere else in the stadium.
There must be a lot of thickies reading this thread who bought in the lower tier corners in the last few days and have now missed out on one of the best views in the ground.
That said, without those thickies the East Upper wouldn't be open. That's the irony. We should all thank the thickies.
First point is a fair one that I hadn’t considered.
Second point. Football is now at a point where fan decisions are based on what it looks like on telly. Modern football is Shit.
I think we would all agree with that, right up to the point of the timing. When you have only less than a 1,000 tickets available in the lower tiers, all in the corners that is the time to open an upper tier.
Also seems odd to chose the East Tier ahead of the West Tier.
Presumably the West...
I'd add to that slightly by saying there is also a type of "fan" who believes you can never get a ticket to a home game, always sold out. They are lazy by nature and only moan once it's sold out. One such guy works in my office. I asked him at lunchtime if he is going to this game as it's cheap...
Exactly.
But then as you said before coming up with your 60% we actually don't now!
What is the cost of opening a tier though? It really cant be as high as 60% needed.
