Sorry but had to reply to show my "intelligence" of what Big Ben actually is :blush:

To be pedantic, Big Ben is only just the bell at the top that gets whacked by the clanger. It not the whole clock.

When I was a kid back in the late 70's (west pier was already closed) we used to just call it "the Pier" never actually called it the Palace pier. So when it changed it didn't seem to make any difference. When did they change the name?

Why do you actually get upset ??? Does it really make a difference?
