Maybe they will. Quite possibly. I'm just saying what I would like to happen. Like some people would like bottle tops to be allowed in the ground - but their preference is irrelevant too.
Principles? - Where have we agreed, or are morally obliged to, not to play our best team, but to play enough U18s to give the other side a chance?
Low level? Pffft!
Wembley final? Yes please!
The only thing we agree upon is that you won't change my mind and I won't change yours. C'est la vie!
I'll try and find that out. If it is, I will look into the possibility of an affordable hotel or B&B near the ground. I really enjoyed the team's earlier trip to Forest Green, even though it was a 0-0 draw. If I have to be a member, or have enough points, or own a smart phone, or jump through...
Rules have been made stricter, sure enough - and rightly so, IMHO. No reason why we shouldn't use the rules to the limit though. In spite of the 'After you Claude, let's be fwaffly fwaffly sporting' brigade, I see no reason why we should continue to play a team of some of our junior U21s and a...
I take it you wouldn't want to have a day out at Wembley and wouldn't enjoy winning something then, if we put out our strongest team.
OK. Suit yourself. I would!
No. We have a gentleman's agreement (or something similar) in the Sussex Senior Cup. We know we're competing with level 5 or 6 teams, or lower. This is different - full-time professional EFL teams that are out to win it, all wanting to see off a PL U21 team and rejoicing if they do it. Perfectly...
It's what clubs do in this country - A Spurs team, for instance, in the 3rd. round of the Cup would bear little resemblance to a team they would play in a final. That's the way it is - live with it!
Every bit we should be taking it seriously. It's a competition, there to be won, and I hope we do; we haven't won many yet. It would be a terrific achievement, and a trophy for the shelf. Obviously the needs of the first team come first, but depending on the timing, and where the 1st. team is at...
Any reason why it should? It hasn't so far....................and we could always playthis 1st. XI:
Verbruggen
Lamptey - van Hecke - Dunk - Estupinan
Gilmour - Gross
Pedro - Lallana - Mitoma
Welbeck
OK, take Welbeck off the U21 bench, put someone else there.
And just for the record, no, I'm not...
Unfair - but it's what the big clubs do when/if they find themselves in the latter stages of the FA Cup or League Cup - and we're a big club in this competition. TBH, I'd have been quite happy to delay the departure for the Middle Eastern holibobs by 48 hours and played a few first teamers last...
Right, let's go for it now. Team for the next round (assuming no more loaned out or injured):
McGill
Offiah - Kavanagh - McConville - Samuels
Hinshelwood - Baleba
Buonanotte - Enciso - Adingra
Ferguson
Subs: Cahill, Fati, Jackson, Hinchy, Barrington, BBB, Welbeck (overage), Milner (overage)...
Yes, they're quite good. Johnny and Warren know what they're talking about, and call it out when Brighton are looking second best. This lot at Reading don't even seem to realise we play out from the back, inviting the press - that doesn't mean the other team is 'all over us'!
We're allowed some overage players, I believe (McGill is one of them), but I don't know how many. Pity it coincides with the holiday in the desert - there's a few first teamers (U21 or not) that I wish we could add to the team! If we do progress, at what stage might we start 'taking it...
