The second time they had the sense to stick with their manager and bounced straight back up; at the third attempt, they stuck in the PL.
Half a season's worth of matches is enough to establish a noticeable trend; certain enough to compare like for like with another club's half season of results against the same teams..
I do understand the logic - the maths and the stats and all that - of keeping the score down against the likes of Spurs and Chelski. Losing 2-0 is better than conceding a hatful, because at the end of the season, goal difference can make the difference of one or two places. I understand that...
