I just don't see the logic of posting in a thread which doesn't interest you to point out that the subject under discussion doesn't affect you.
Maybe that's just me.
Girona, a team from Catalunya newly-promoted to the Primera Division (and apparently the team supported by Carlos Puigdemont), beat Real Madrid 2-1 this afternoon.
I genuinely don't wish to be rude, but the correct term is Catalans - you say you don't really know, which is entirely fair enough, but I do know.
The answer is Catalans. :)
You presumably don't refer to people as Englandians, Scotlandians, Walesians or Northern Irelandians, do you?
More likely, you use English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish, which are the correct demonyms, just as the correct one for people from Catalonia/Catalunya is Catalans - context doesn't enter...
Had the Spanish government behaved sensibly and allowed a legally recognised independence referendum as the UK did with Scotland, they probably would have got the result they wanted and this whole situation could have been avoided.
By failing to do so, and by acting so heavy-handedly throughout...
The Spanish police and government have absolutely ****ed this up and behaved disgustingly.
If the result goes that way, I fully expect Catalunya to declare independence in the coming days.
What would happen then, I really have no idea.
