Under FFP clubs have to lodge their accounts with the FL by 31 December. I wonder how long it will take for the Albion to send them to Companies House for public scrutiny?
QPR and Bolton didn't vote on the rules as they were PL clubs at the time. A lot will depend on the extent of the fine as to whether it is worth a legal gamble.
Agreed, I'm sure there are firms of lawyers already rubbing their £2,000 an hour hands at the prospect of taking the FL to court over whether the FFP tax is enforceable for a promoted club.
We've already seen a big climbdown by the FL in relation to the tax, which was originally going to be...
Why should the government introduce legislation making directors of football clubs liable for the debts of their clubs? The FSA are a joke, most of their prosecutions against individuals collapse, and so they tend to fine institutions rather than individuals. If you think the blazers at the FA...
Yup that's correct, but failure to stay within the defined limits will lead to the imposition of sanctions. However, there will be no sanctions implemented during the first two seasons (2012/13 and 2013/14) in order to give clubs a sensible period of transition.
Therefore Bolton have an...
Nothing guarantees success, but paying top money certainly helps achieve it.
In 2011/12 the top six in the Championship were (with wages in brackets)
1st Reading (4th £27 million)
2nd Southampton (2nd £29 million)
3rd West Ham (1st £42 million)
4th Birmingham (5th £25 million)
5th Blackpool...
To a degree, TB has invested in infrastructure rather than playing silly wages. Yaya Toure was paid more in City's league winning season than everyone at the Albion put together, including non-playing staff.
Part of the problem is that there is not a level playing field. Clubs such as City, Chelsea, QPR, Forest, Leicester and others have sugar daddies who can afford to spunk away hundreds of millions, other clubs cannot compete, but fan pressure and boardroom stupidity and vanity sometimes means...
If we are competing with clubs who have £30m wage bills then did we 'hit the ceiling' in getting to fourth last year? Leicester, QPR, Forest and a few others are paying far more than the Albion for wages.
