There was nothing personal in my assessment. Perhaps I should have explained it clearer. Apologies.
My beef is more concentrated around the media speculation, the lazy desk journalism that quickly becomes fact. A kind of confirmation bias.
Then come the statements of fact. Many have a source...
Owen and Naylor have quality contacts. They have never reported as confirmation that we are in for a player that we weren't. Unlike every other outlet.
On the odd occasion they have been put off the scent. That's normal and most forgivable.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of a number of options.
This thread is a summary of the irrational and chaotic minds of football fans. Heads turn to mush during the transfer window.
The Argus, who's sports coverage I respect but nothing else, said that it was very unlikely to happen. If...
It's blatantly obvious. I've often seen 'journos' making links with players and never put them fresh on here. The broadsheets tend to be the most accurate. Even then, The Guardian (who are apparently the best) only score 38% when it comes to player transferred/signed a new contract.
What I find...
What isn't clear is that Leicester City have any interest in Dunk apart from what The Sun has inaccurately reported. The Leicester Mercury is a bit wanting in its coverage. Thankfully we have the maligned Naylor who says he is one of a long list and they will have to pay silly money.
The point at which someone says 'What I've heard is the point at which nearly every rumour can be dismissed.
I hear lots of stuff- even from well placed sources. I've known about some historical Albion activity before it has happened.
I don't bring it here though.
I didn't believe the round robin thing anyway.
It's the problem with t'internet. Someone starts a rumour and it quickly becomes fact. Even papers are in in it.
Yet folk keep re-cycling it again and again.
Manchester United opening day anyone.... ?
Starting negotiations at £50-60m me thinks.
It would be greeted with- "well f***k off then".
Hard to say, but I can't see a club going above £30m and I can't see a lower half of the league team wanting to part with that (and Albion probably wouldn't agree). I don't think a top 6 side would...
