Maybe he has had a medical, doesn't mean he's going to sign, Grabban had one for us. What is interesting in that article is that they won't sign him unless he proves he 100% wants to play for boro. I would suggest he has already proved otherwise by failing to turn up for the first two medicals...

Not so simple, boro don't want to let Butterfield go til they have a replacement, Hudds won't let Clayton go til they get Butterfield or a replacement. The deal could still be rushed through if we were to pay over the odds, but we won't and I'm glad we won't.

With that report coming from boro's local paper, Clayton needs to hope the Brighton deal comes off, he's gonna struggle to win over the boro faithful after that stunt. But its his future, if he see's it as being in Brighton, then fair play to him for sticking to his guns.

That quote came from a Huddersfield fan on their message board who probably knows as little about player wages as anyone on here, he won't get that at Huddersfield, Brighton or Middlesboro, that ship has sailed for championship clubs without parachute payments IMO, and probably for most clubs...

That's a pretty big if, he may or may not have said that but the only place I have seen this reported was in boro's local paper. Creative licensing springs to mind. Reminds me of the famous Gus quote that he was going to build the team around CMS, I never saw this in an interview from Gus, only...

It does feel like that doesn't it, I don't expect the same outcome tbh but, if it was as done as people think I would have expected him to be at boro to complete the deal, rather than training with Huddersfield.

No I can't see it happening, mainly because I think it will fail at the first legal challenge. Yes clubs will be at risk, if they fail to get rid of the players but its not ffp that put them at risk, its their ownership and bad management for spending what they haven't got. Fair enough, thanks...

They should be, what if they don't go up? My understanding is (and I could be wrong) that under an embargo, they cannot buy or SELL platers until their accounts are back in order. That would mean the only way they can bring them back in order is by releasing players. If they are unwilling to do...

Thanks for the reply, so basically everyone is assuming that he will sign for boro, for no good reason? Fwiw, I'm a northerner, Scottish in fact, and I can assure you its not as grim pop north as some people down south like to believe, I for one am in no hurry to move back to Brighton anytime...

So Clayton hasn't actually signed for boro yet? Why is everyone expecting him to? Is it just because boro have also had a bid accepted? And people think, being a northern lad, he'll want to stay up north? Or is there more to this that I've missed?
