Well, Brads character is kind of tongue-in-cheek, supposed to be totally OTT and I thought he played up to that well.
Its one of those films that will, I think, get better with further viewing. I remember I was totally underwhelmed when I first went to see Reservoir Dogs, probably because I was...
Inglourious Basterds was my fave film of 2009. FANTASTIC performance from Christoph Waltz as Landa (the "Jew Hunter"), he absolutely steals the show from Brad Pitt. Its not what you'd call action-packed I'd agree, but long scenes of dialogue is just what Tarantino does, and the writing for this...
Surely there are better things to do with £3 than buying films starring Christian Slater, or with Danny Dyer on the cover. Shocking life choice there Nibble.
I don't get all the HYPE with this Twilight gubbins.
I watched it on Sky Movies the other week without ever having heard of it, and it was a struggle to stay with it. I strayed to other channels a couple of times, it was so s-l-o-w and ponderous. Can't say I'll be rushing along to the sequal.
The sparkly skin thing in Twighlight was utterly ludicrous.
"This is why we can never come out in the sun - people will see we're different"
Oh pur-lease. So they only go to school on CLOUDY days, lest a sunbeam expose their bling-skin. Gee, I hope their weather forcasts are more reliable than...
You just take this stuff WAAAAAYYY too seriously Unc. Its banter isn't it ?
I'm not bothered if Nibble thinks I'm a cretin or not, it was just an amusing post that made me laugh. Not because it might have "pissed you off", that had nothing to do with it.
Just relax ! Its shit & giggles on a...
Have to agree on There Will Be Blood. All rather monotonous, with DDL doing his Butcher Bill act from Gangs of New York (which was a FAR better movie imho, but didn't get even a fraction of the plaudits and praise heaped on TWBB). Came away from that genuinely wondering what all the fuss was about.
Q of S was ok, not sure I'd rate it as highly as you have - I much preferred Casino Royale. Add the fact that Q of S has probably the WORST Bond theme of all time and thats got to drop it down another notch or two as well, surely.
Blindness
Interesting (but not enthralling) film about an unexplained "blindness virus" which sweeps the population, rendering people immediately, errr, blind. Julianne Moore, for some reason, stays unaffected and keeps her sight, but in staying with her now-blind husband, is locked up in a...

The Boat That Rocked
A nostalgic flick based around the pirate radio phenomena of the 60's which the government attempted to stamp out. Its got Phillip Seymour Hoffman as one of the characters, playing a maverick US DJ...
Sorry, but Fame must be woeful.
I wouldn't normally pre-judge, but SURELY a Fame remake must fail on so many levels. I just cannot even comprehend bothering watching it.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Slow-burning western about...well, just read the film title. It runs for 260 minutes and I must admit to being rather BORED after about 45, but I stuck with it and in the end was glad I did. Brad Pitt (as James) is superb, but its Casey...
Spiderman 3
Seen it before but watched it again last night mainly to put the blu-ray through its paces. Great effects and some good action sequences, but its far too long for a "superhero" film (2 hours 20) so the plot does become overly bloated with superflous bad guys. Picture and sound...
Tyson
Just a superb documentary. The man is far more articulate than I'd ever given him credit for. A tumultuous life, incredible career and I was literally hanging on every word. The footage of his fights from the late 80's just reminds you what a phenomenon he was. Nothing has been seen...
Skinwalkers
Gubbins story about "good" werewolves (who don't eat people) and "bad" werewolves (who do). Rhona Mitra plays a woman bringing up her young son in a small town town where the majority of her friends and neighbours are "good" werewolves. Once a month, on the full moon, they all have...
Well, there are leaps of faith, suspension of disbelief, and just...dumb stuff. Its not a terrible movie by any means, but it did have some groan-inducing moments along the way.
