I agree. As a fairly regular Waitrose shopper (although less now we have an ALDI locally and I don't get John Lewis partner discount, I have very rarely taken advantage of the free coffee.

What does one expect? It's free. If you want something fancy go to Costa, or Starbucks, or Caffe Nero or one of the independents in Brighton..… and pay for it.

You do have to have a MyWaitrose Card AND actually spend money to get the free paper and/or coffee. But this is hardly a story. Having said that, having worked in my local Waitrose for 4 years up to last June, plenty of people abuse the system, so they will often ask to see people's receipts...
