    Agreed. I was just trying to make the point that he knows from personal experience what "discrimination" is. I think the main point is that the words offended and offence - as in take offence - could cover a multitude of sins.

    I don't know what you mean by "in my day", but I am 61 and well remember collecting Golliwog badges and so on, and not as a child associating golliwogs with anything racist.     I agree that political correctness has gone too far, and that the Alex Salmond effigy thing is all a bit silly, but I don't think you have chosen very good examples - particularly on the Golliwog front.
