    General Election 2017

Well...quite. My scenario is predicated on no deal with a bunch of homophobic throw-backs to the 70s and on May quitting. I still think she will go. She's on notice from the 1922 Committee and I've seen nothing so far to suggest that she's got what it takes to get things back on track. I'm done...

    General Election 2017

I don't think austerity was a mistake, we can't keep spending more than we take in indefinitely. What was a mistake, well...it wasn't a mistake rather than an ideological point of principle was where the cuts were made. When someone like Ian Duncan-Smith says that benefits are being cut too far...

    General Election 2017

Don't be silly. Evil is Ian Brady, evil is Pol Pot, evil is Irma Grese. She's not even nasty, just incompetent. When you bandy around those words to describe mainstream politicians then it kind of makes them all but redundant. And gender-specific insults at women are not really the done thing...

    General Election 2017

She has no credibility. None. She has to go. I slagged off Corbyn for cosying up to terrorists and lo and behold, Theresa May goes one better and considers inviting homophobic terrorist supporters into her government. Disgraceful. They should never have even been an option. Minority government...

Bloody hell! There's a turn up for the books. Well...she has got no-one to blame but herself. Good riddance Theresa.

    General Election 2017

That shows a remarkable lack of self-awareness then given that he was put into power by urban A and B classes, his power base is the North London chatterati, he was championed by upper middle class types like Meacher and Benn and surrounds himself with ex-public schoolboys as advisers. And he...

I try to avoid both the Sun and DM at all times and they may well have got worse but because they've now become almost like a cartoon hate figure, I kind of zone out when they get criticised. I think maybe I need to rethink that. The Express is another thing altogether. Is it even a newspaper...

    General Election 2017

Appalling. I do think that a lot of Conservatives, probably including senior MPs are not happy with what was said but because it hasn't been reported widely nor has anyone been challenged that the impression is that all of us Tories think it's okay and this is part of the reason for why there's...

    General Election 2017

It's a chicken and egg thing though. Lefties get outraged most about The Sun and the Daily Mail both of whom are pretty awful at times. And then they project it on Tory voters generally. And the Sun and DM pick up on this and the cycle goes on. It needs calling out and challenging on both sides.

Genuinely surprised at this. I thought if anything Kyle would increase his majority. He's got a big and active local party, he seems to be well liked by his constituents and he comes across as a pretty decent chap whereas his opponent has this "Christian cure" nonsense following her around like...

I suspect it's because the bin men and women are very militant and unionised in Brighton and an overhaul of our recycling would involve lots of change. And change isn't liked. It's ridiculous that Tory councils in Horsham, Worthing and elsewhere in Sussex rank quite highly overall and as you say...

It was a disaster! I've never got a satsfactory answer from any Green supporter on why recycling got worse under their rule and it was bad before that! You'd think with all of the talent available at their disposal that the Green Party would have at least put a top notch recycling policy in place.

You're absolutely spot on. I've no issue with calling out any of those three on what they've said and done in the past but in fairness I think Theresa May got off very lightly with her personal abuse of Corbyn. And when someone pretended to be Seumas Milne and emailed Diane Abbott, I think...

Likewise matey. Always enjoyed your take on things and of course your football blogs. Yep, Moran and Hopkins are cut from the same cloth. I'd add David Schneider to that too. Just plays to the gallery.

Of course it's not. No-one wins in this silly game of whataboutery. One of the reasons politics is getting ever more divided is this attitude that if people have a different view that they are bad people. The press do it to Labour and social media lefties do it to Tory/Ukip/Brexit voters.

    General Election 2017

Ha! Sounds like my old teachers at school. "Can do it when he puts his mind to it". I've no qualms about arguing politics with anyone but there is a self-righteousness with some on the left and many on social media who think that they have the moral and ethical high ground by being a leftie...
