I really don't understand communist chic. Millions died, countless atrocities were committed and famines caused, all in the name of that flag.

Random quotes from the 2012 BBC article: The government's flagship welfare reform programme is heading for "disaster", its "poverty czar" Frank Field has warned. Labour MP says Universal Credit will not simplify benefits as planned and will instead "rot the soul" of the low paid." It looks to...

Are you sure you've got the right man? Field was the Minister for Welfare Reform under Tony Blair for about a year in 97/98 and resigned because despite his role he realised he had absolutely no influence. Universal Credit was brought in by the Tories in (I think) 2013 and the architect is...

Fair enough. As I say, I don't agree with him on an awful lot, the admiration is in the way he's stuck to his convictions rather than what he believes in. Incidentally, Heffer and Thatcher had a lot of mutual respect despite being political opposites and Mrs T remained in contact with Eric...

Yup. I probably don't agree with Skinner on much at all except Brexit but he's one of the few MPs on any side whose word you would trust. He's one of the last great Parlimentarians. Along with the late great Eric Heffer, my all-time favourite Labour politician.

Of course it's larger but it's not still growing, as you claimed and all the while the Tories are in power and holding 15 point leads over Labour in England and leading them in Scotland then there's nothing about Labour for the Tories to envy.

    The Jeremy Corbyn thread

It's certainly not still growing, reports from Labour List (I think) report that thousands are cancelling their direct debit in protest at Corbyn's Brexit stance and as long as the Tories are in power, they certainly aren't in envy of the Labour Party.

I think you're probably right but I do remember reading this prophetic quote a while back from a leading Momentum member: In an extraordinary blog post last month, the group's women’s officer Laura Murray accused members of the hard-left Alliance for Workers’ Liberty of trying to mount a coup...

Rumours are afoot of yet another challenge being planned to Corbyn's leadership, this time precipitated by the quite shambolic way that Labour is trying to deal with Brexit and this time the attack is from the hard-left rather than the right of the party. Clive Lewis is the name being touted as...
