Never been much of a Dandys fan and only know one or two of their songs so can't comment on that but it sounds similar (ish) to later JAMC and I quite liked that!

Has anyone mentioned We Cut Corners? They had an album out v recently that I've just gotten around to listening and got to say that I'm mightily impressed. I'm not sure what genre to describe them as, they tend to switch tempo and styles so frequently between tunes that they don't lend...

Any JAMC fans out there? The new album 'Damage and Joy' will be out in March and you can here the first track from it here. http://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2016/12/08/504855643/the-jesus-and-mary-chain-returns-with-new-album-shares-first-single I like it, I like it a lot.

I forgot to mention a month or two back that one of my favourite German bands had an album out. They're called Hundreds and the album is 'Wilderness'. They're a synthpop outfit from Hamburg with a female lead and I've been in love with them ever since I heard their classic 'I love my harbour', a...

The new Thee Oh Sees 'An Odd Entrances' (sic) is a curious album. It's relatively short, 6 tracks and coming in at under 30 minutes but there's plenty of twists and turns with the records, even within tracks themselves, shifting from easy listening to psychedelia with ease and there's even a few...

It's great to see Amiina are back with a new album. They're an Icelandic four piece (I think I've got the numbers right) and sort of a female Sigur Ros but they tend to use more traditional orchestral instruments and the overall effect is somewhere between Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black...

The new Max Cooper album is a downtempo, glitch hop masterpiece. It really is quite beautiful and I suspect that if I'd heard it earlier I might well have included it in my top albums list. Just have a listen to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAAxJwiD0uU

Spice Girls lyrics have always been awful though! My favourite is from 'Spice Up Your Life': "...yellow man in Timbuktu...". Aside from the racist overtones, it's spectacularly bad to mix up Kathmandu in Nepal with Timbuktu in Mali.

Here's the Spice Girls (ish) comeback tune and presumably there's a new album on the way too. It's just Geri H, Emma B and Mel B this time around and although the tune is okay it clearly misses Mel C's presence. We all know she was the Spice Girl with the best singing voice and this proves it...

An album I've been listening to this morning by a band who are consistently excellent is the new Wave Pictures 'Bamboo Diner In The Rain'. If you've heard any of their previous albums then you will know what to expect and they don't deviate from their winning formula - they remain innovative...

Why are bands doing crowd-funding now? Surely BSP already have a record contract as have (presumably) De La Soul and Amanda Palmer who have both used crowd-funding to fund new albums. Does it give the bands more autonomy over where it's produced and by whom and how it's subsequently marketed or...

Now here's a comeback that could be huge. The Jesus and Mary Chain are apparently releasing a new album in March next year - the first in nearly 20 years. http://pitchfork.com/news/69857-the-jesus-and-mary-chain-releasing-first-new-album-in-over-18-years/

I bought the new Hope Sandoval album on Monday night from Rough Trade and it comes with a brilliant little bonus disc which has rather saved the album for me. I'm finding the main album a bit flat, to be honest. It's all a bit one-speed except for a few tracks including the excellent Kurt Vile...

I like the new XX single 'On Hold'. It starts a bit MOR ballad-y but it certainly gets going after that. I expect I'll be sick of hearing it in a few weeks time and it's bound to feature in a lot of adverts and TV trailers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_oA9UmRd4I

Any fans of British indie guitar bands on here need to listen to the new album 'So Long Forever' by a band called Palace. Yes, really but despite that awful name they are very good. They have quite an expansive sound and probably go down a storm at festivals...

Another vote for the Soft Hair here, I heard the album only last night and it's got a lovely vibe to it. Another dreamy soulful album is the new Jim James 'Eternally Even'. He's the lead singer of My Morning Jacket - a band I've heard of a lot but can't say I've ever listened to so no idea if...

An album that is right up my street is the eponymously titled 'De Montevert'. She's a Swedish singer/songwriter whose music can sound a lot like Mirel Wagner but also at other times like Laura Marling. Apparently the whole album was recorded over 2 weekends with a few of the tunes being first or...

I need to listen to that Run The Jewels album. Regards that Kings of Leon review, sadly I think it's spot on. I used to like KoL for just being a band that made cheesy but no pretensions rock that put a smile on your face, the same reason I was a fan of Reef. But I've heard a few tracks from...
