TBH that's why I'm not really in favour of referenda as a way of deciding political issues. Far too many people can be swayed by one event in the immediate lead-up and vote on that as opposed to weighing up the issue in its entirety.

Eh? Do you really think Britain's current growth is largely down to the 'Help to Buy' scheme? That is the single largest factor? It's not the EU-sceptics (plenty of whom come from the Left) who are the 'idiots in the room'.
